In order to allow more people to enroll in the Inner Critic Telephone Class, it has been postponed for two weeks. It will now start on Oct. 7.

This fall I will be starting a new therapy group that combines IFS and Interactive modalities.

IFS

Most of you who have been reading my emails know about Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS). For those who don’t, here is a brief description:

IFS is a new form of psychotherapy that has been spreading rapidly across the country in the past decade. It is compassionate, inclusive, spiritual, powerfully healing, and deeply respectful of our inner life. It is incredibly effective on a wide variety of life issues, such as self-esteem, procrastination, depression, and relationship issues. A reader asks:

I have read your biography, on your website, and am very impressed by (amongst other things) the fact that 1) you have already been a successful practicing psychotherapist for years before adopting IFS, and 2) you switched careers after already having made your mark in computer science, which would seem to be a drastically different field from psychotherapy, though I suspect that it’s not as different as it would first appear. Once I finish your book and have a bit more time to reflect on it, I will have some specific questions for you. In the mean time, I would like to know more about how you came to switch from computer science to psychotherapy and how you came to discover and adapt IFS into your practice. I notice that there were blog entries about both the Inner Champion and the Inner Mentor.

I had thought that the Inner Champion was just a new name for “Bonnie’s” Inner Mentor but from what I understand now they are two separate parts. The Inner Mentor is the Inner Critics POSITIVE helpful role to guide us when needed.
