In this class you will learn how to help your clients with one of the most difficult issues many people face—those parts that judge, condemn, and push our clients. Inner Critic parts are often behind depression, low self-esteem, shame, guilt, and other difficult issues. The approach we teach is based on IFS and includes our own innovations.
In the class, you will study:
How to help your client see the Inner Critic as a separate part.
The seven types of Inner Critic parts and their motivations and origins.
How Critic parts are actually trying to help the client in their own distorted way.
How to help your client connect with a Critic rather than fighting it.
The cluster of parts that develop around Inner Critic parts and how to work with them.
How to heal the vulnerable parts that are underneath the Critic, so the Critic can let go.
How to help your client develop an Inner Champion to transform the Critic.
How to work with entrenched or highly destructive Critics.
The class will include working on your own Inner Critic parts and homework practice sessions with other class members. Readings: Self-Therapyby Jay Earley The Inner Critic Manual, which you will receive by email
